Jesus Still Heals Today
When I was attending seminary, one of my professors taught that the sign gifts—including healings and miracles—ceased after the death of the last apostle recorded in the New Testament. Although I belonged to that denomination at the time, I simply could not reconcile that teaching with the Word of God.
As I read the Scriptures, I saw miracles from the opening chapters of Genesis to the closing pages of Revelation. I could not fathom that the God who declares, “I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6), would somehow change His nature when it came to healing. If miracles and healing had truly disappeared, it would seem that a part of God’s nature had somehow ceased to exist. But God cannot change, diminish, or cease to be who He is.
What finally settled the matter for me was not only Scripture but also experience. Over the years, I have witnessed God heal people with my own eyes. I have seen lives transformed through faith, prayer, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Those testimonies do not replace Scripture; they simply confirm what Scripture has always declared: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
One of the enemy’s greatest lies is that miracles belong only to the pages of the Bible. He whispers that healing was for another generation, another dispensation, or another group of believers. But God’s Word declares something entirely different: Jesus has never changed. The same Jesus who opened blind eyes still opens blind eyes. The same Jesus who cleansed lepers still cleanses disease. The same Jesus who strengthened crippled legs, restored broken minds, and raised the dead has not lost one ounce of His power.
His methods may vary, but His nature never changes. Sometimes He heals instantly. Sometimes He heals through a process. Sometimes He uses doctors, medicine, wise counsel, or changes in lifestyle. Yet regardless of the method, He remains the Great Physician. Our faith is not in a particular method—it is in an unchanging Savior. Throughout this devotional journey, you have been filling your heart with God’s promises. Those promises are not relics from history; they are living words from a living God. Faith is built by remembering who Jesus is rather than focusing on what we feel. Symptoms may change from day to day, but Jesus does not. Reports may fluctuate, but Jesus does not. Circumstances may rise and fall, but Jesus remains faithful. The cross has not lost its power. The blood has not lost its authority. The name of Jesus has not lost its victory.
Today, lift your eyes above your condition and fix them upon Christ. Your confidence is not in yesterday’s experience but in today’s unchanging Savior. If He was willing to heal then, He is still willing to heal now.
Prayer
Father, thank You that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I place my trust in Your unchanging character. I believe that Your healing power is still available today. Strengthen my faith to look beyond my circumstances and keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. Thank You that You are working in my body, renewing my strength, restoring every damaged area, and bringing me into complete health. I receive Your healing with thanksgiving and praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today’s Prescription
Jesus has never changed, so His promises have never changed. Trust the unchanging Christ more than the changing circumstances.
