Day 36: Hello Holy Spirit
The River Within
Scripture
“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:38 NKJV)
Promise
God promises that His Spirit within you is not a trickle, but a river—ever-flowing, unstoppable, and life-giving wherever it goes.
Quote
“The Holy Spirit is not a stagnant pool but a mighty river—flowing from within you to refresh the world around you.” — Dr. Daniel LeBlanc
Devotion
When Jesus spoke these words, He was declaring that every believer would carry a river inside of them—the Holy Spirit Himself. Notice that He did not say “a drop of water” or even “a stream,” but rivers of living water. A river does not need to be pumped up, forced, or manufactured. It flows naturally when it is not blocked.
Too often, we complicate the flow of the Spirit by focusing on ourselves—our feelings, our adequacy, or our performance. But the Spirit flows when we yield, not when we strive. Think about it: a river doesn’t ask permission from the rocks or the soil; it simply moves around obstacles and keeps flowing. In the same way, the Spirit in you is relentless—He wants to flow through your words, prayers, actions, and even your silence.
This is why saying “Hello Holy Spirit” every morning is so powerful. You are acknowledging that you are not dry, empty, or lacking—you are already filled with rivers of living water. The issue is never the absence of the Spirit but our awareness of Him.
Benny Hinn once said, “The Holy Spirit is more real than the air you breathe. Without Him, you will dry up; with Him, rivers of living water will flow through you.” That is the reality you carry—He is not a guest who comes and goes, He is the river within you, always ready to flow.
And here’s the key: this river isn’t just for you—it’s meant to overflow into others. Wherever a river flows, life springs up along its banks. Dead places become fertile. Dry ground becomes fruitful. Broken lives are refreshed. When you let the river flow, your life becomes an oasis of His presence.
Now let’s look at a few ways we can apply this:
Stay yielded. Don’t try to force the Spirit to flow—relax and surrender. Yield your words, thoughts, and actions to Him.
Remove blockages. Offense, fear, doubt, and sin act like rocks in the river. Lay them down and watch the flow increase.
Speak life. Remember, the river often flows through your mouth. Choose to declare God’s promises, not your problems.
Refresh others. Ask the Holy Spirit each day, “Who needs the river through me today?” Then obey His leading.
Every time you become aware of the Spirit within, the river grows stronger. Don’t settle for living like a desert when God has placed a river inside you.
Declaration
Hello Holy Spirit, thank You that rivers of living water flow from within me. I am not dry or empty—I am a carrier of Your life. Today, I declare that Your river flows freely through me, bringing life to every place I go.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, I acknowledge You as the river within me. Remove every blockage that has slowed Your flow in my life. Let living water pour out of me to refresh, heal, and restore others. Teach me to yield, to speak life, and to carry Your river wherever I go. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
