Day 10 – Promise of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
Scripture
“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” — Luke 24:49
Promise
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not optional—it is the Father’s promise for every believer who longs to be filled with His power.
Quote
“The Promise of the Father is the same today as it was at Pentecost—wait in faith, hope, and expectancy, and He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.” — Dr. Daniel LeBlanc
Devotion
Jesus called the baptism of the Holy Spirit “the Promise of the Father.” That means it’s not a suggestion, a side issue, or something for only a few. It’s the Father’s good gift for all His children.
Think of the disciples in the upper room. They already believed in Jesus, but He told them to wait until the Spirit clothed them with power. They waited in prayer, in unity, and in expectancy. They weren’t rushing or treating it casually—they were hungry for the Promise.
The Greek word for “wait” (menō) carries the idea of staying, abiding, and not moving until what was promised arrives. This wasn’t a quick, drive-through moment—it was a season of pressing in until heaven touched earth. And when the Spirit came, He came with power, filling them with boldness, tongues of fire, and supernatural gifts.
Even today, believers around the world testify of the same encounter. Some describe an unshakable boldness. Others receive a heavenly language of prayer. Many experience what revival leaders have called “liquid love”—a tangible flood of God’s presence that overwhelms the heart. However it comes, the baptism of the Spirit always fulfills the Father’s promise.
And here’s the key: it’s not just about receiving a gift, but welcoming a Person. Every time you whisper, “Hello Holy Spirit, I welcome You,” you are stepping into the same expectancy the disciples had. You are opening yourself to the Promise of the Father, trusting He will do exactly what He said.
Let’s make some application now. God’s promises are not meant to be admired from a distance but claimed by faith. Begin each day this week by saying, “Hello Holy Spirit, I welcome You. I am here, waiting in faith, hope, and expectancy for all You want to do in me.”
Declaration
I believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the Father’s promise for me. I will wait in faith, hope, and expectancy. Today I say, “Hello Holy Spirit, I welcome You—fulfill Your promise in me.”
Prayer
Hello Holy Spirit, I welcome You. Thank You, Father, for Your promise. I choose to wait with faith, hope, and expectancy. Baptize me afresh today—fill me with boldness, clothe me with power, and let Your love overflow through me. I receive Your promise now, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
