BEFORE TIME: Day 2

Day 2 — God’s Love Revealed Through Reconciliation

“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:18 (NKJV)

God’s Love Revealed Through Reconciliation

God’s love does not stop at forgiveness—it moves toward relationship. Forgiveness removes the barrier, but reconciliation restores closeness. What is easy to miss is that God’s decision to reconcile you was not made after you believed, repented, or changed. It was settled before you were born and before the earth was created. Before you ever felt distant from God, closeness was already His intention. Before sin introduced separation, restoration was already part of His plan. And before you ever turned away, God had already decided the outcome—He would bring you home.

This means that when you come to God, you are not trying to convince Him to receive you. You are responding to a welcome that has always been there. You are not negotiating your way back into relationship; you are stepping into a relationship that was prepared for you before time began.

Second Corinthians 5:18 reminds us that reconciliation begins with God, not with us: “All things are of God.” God was not waiting for you to get your life together before drawing near. He moved toward you first. Even in moments when you felt disconnected, unsure, or unworthy, God’s heart toward you never changed. He did not withdraw; He pursued. He did not hesitate; He reconciled.

This understanding reshapes how you live your daily life. When you know God has already chosen closeness with you, fear and striving begin to lose their grip. You stop approaching God with hesitation and start relating to Him with confidence. You stop living as though you must earn His nearness and begin living from the security of being already accepted. You learn to live from relationship, not performance.

And this truth does not stay between you and God—it flows into your relationships with others. Scripture says God has given us the ministry of reconciliation. This does not mean you are responsible to fix people or force restored relationships. It means you carry a posture of restoration wherever you go. Because God moved toward you before you had it all together, you are now free to move toward others with grace rather than distance, with love rather than suspicion, and with openness rather than self-protection.

Living reconciled means you no longer wait for apologies to walk in peace. You no longer need people to change before your heart stays open. You are not ruled by offense or guarded by fear. Instead, you live from the same grace that welcomed you home and the same love that refused to let distance have the final word.

Today, let this truth settle deeply in your heart: you are not chasing closeness—you are living from it. And as you do, every relationship becomes an opportunity to reflect God’s reconciling love in practical, everyday ways.

Prayer

Father, thank You that reconciliation with You was settled before time began and before the earth was created. Thank You that You chose closeness with me before I ever chose You. Today, I receive the ministry of reconciliation You have given me. Teach me to live from grace, not distance; from restoration, not reaction. Let my relationships reflect the welcome and love You have shown me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
