Day 9: His Presence Is Your Calm
Day 9: His Presence Is Your Calm
Scripture:
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
—Matthew 28:20 (NIV)
“Peace isn’t the absence of storms; it’s the awareness of His presence.”
— Dr. Daniel LeBlanc
Reflection:
Real peace is not the absence of trouble—it’s the presence of Jesus. When Jesus promised, “I am with you always,” He wasn’t offering a life free from hardship. He was offering something even greater: unbreakable peace anchored in His unshakable presence. During my time serving as a hospice chaplain, I encountered death almost every single day. I witnessed countless families in the final moments of life. What amazed me the most was how a few rare individuals faced their final moments—not with fear, not with panic, but with overwhelming peace. Even as pain racked their bodies and death stood at their door, there was a supernatural calm that radiated from them. Instead of needing to be comforted, they became the comforters. Their loved ones gathered around them expecting to offer strength—but instead, found themselves receiving strength from the one who was passing on. The peace of God had such a strong place to land in their hearts that it overflowed to everyone in the room. That’s what it truly means to rest in peace—not just after life ends, but to live your final moments saturated in the peace of God that transcends human understanding. You don’t have to wait until the end of your life to walk in that kind of peace. Right now, today, no matter what you face, you can rest in the presence of the One who promised never to leave you. When storms rage, when fear shouts, when life feels uncertain—you don’t have to manufacture calm. You simply shift your attention and your heart toward the One who never left.
You confess boldly:
“Jesus is with me. His presence is my calm. His peace anchors my soul. I refuse to panic; I choose to rest in Him.”
Today, no matter what comes against you, remember:
Calm is not found in the absence of the storm. Calm is found in the presence of the Savior who holds you steady through it all.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are with me always. You have never left me, not even for a moment. Your presence is my peace. Your nearness is my calm. I refuse to focus on the size of the storm—I focus on the greatness of my Savior. I rest in You today, and I declare that Your peace overflows from my life to those around me. Thank You for anchoring me in unshakable peace. In Jesus’ name Amen.
