Day 25 – Power Through Dependence

Scripture:
“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6 NKJV)

Promise

God’s fire is sustained not by human effort but by His Spirit, who empowers and fuels your life every day.

Quote

“Dependence is the secret to power—your surrender, His Spirit, your weakness, His strength.” — Dr. Daniel LeBlanc

Devotion

The fire of the Spirit is not fueled by human effort. Zechariah 4:6 reminds us: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.” You can’t pray enough, fast enough, or work hard enough to keep the flame alive in your own strength. Your discipline matters, but without the Spirit breathing on it, the fire will flicker. Dependence is not weakness—it is strength. It is the posture that says, “I cannot, but He can.” When you depend on the Spirit, you place fresh wood on the altar of your life every day. That wood is your surrender, your obedience, and your weakness. The Spirit provides the flame, but He asks for something to consume.

Think of the priests in the Old Testament. God lit the fire on the altar, but the priests had to add wood every morning. Without their daily dependence, the fire would go out. In the same way, the Spirit provides the fire in your heart, but you must partner with Him through surrender. Elijah understood this truth. He was able to call down fire from heaven, not because of ritual or formula, but because of his faith relationship with God. The prophets of Baal danced, cut themselves, and cried out all day, but their idols were powerless. Elijah’s fire fell because his power was rooted in intimacy with the living God. That same intimacy is available to you—the fire responds to dependence, not to human striving. Your might cannot overcome temptation, but His Spirit can. Your power cannot heal the wounds of your past, but His Spirit can. Your strength cannot produce revival in your family or your church, but His Spirit can. Dependence doesn’t limit you—it releases you into supernatural power.

Every time you whisper, “Holy Spirit, I depend on You,” you invite His flame to burn stronger in your life. Don’t try to carry it all yourself—let the Spirit carry you.

Application

  • Depend in prayer — admit your weakness and invite His strength.

  • Depend in decisions — seek His wisdom instead of relying on your own understanding.

  • Depend in battles — let the Spirit fight where your strength fails.

  • Depend daily — don’t live on yesterday’s wood; surrender fresh today.

Declaration

I declare that my life is not fueled by my own strength but by the Spirit of God. I choose daily dependence, and His power fuels the fire in me.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, I confess that without You I can do nothing. Today I surrender my weakness, my plans, and my strength to You. Burn away my self-reliance, and let Your Spirit fuel my life with power and fire. I choose dependence so that my flame never fades. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
