861. Promise: God delivers us from the grip of sin and gives us new life.
“Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives.” (Romans 6:6)
862. Promise: God gives power to overcome the world.
“For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.” (1 John 5:4)
863. Promise: God will not allow us to be tested beyond what we can bear.
“And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
864. Promise: God puts a new song in our mouth after deliverance.
“He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God.” (Psalm 40:3)
865. Promise: God brings beauty from ashes and joy from mourning.
“To all who mourn… he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning.” (Isaiah 61:3)
