BEFORE TIME: Day 13
Day 13 — Grace Builds Unity That Was Designed
“That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us… that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
— John 17:21, 26 (NKJV)
Grace Builds Unity
Long before the world was created, before the earth was formed, before humanity ever struggled with division, misunderstanding, or offense, unity already existed. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit lived in perfect oneness. Love flowed freely. There was no competition, no insecurity, no striving—only shared life. This means unity is not a human invention. It is a divine design. It existed before time began.
When Jesus prayed in John 17, He was not asking for something unnatural. He was revealing something original. He was inviting us back into the unity that was always God’s intention. And here is the beautiful truth: grace is the power that makes that unity possible.
Grace is not just God overlooking your weaknesses. Grace is God sharing His own life with you. It is His divine strength operating inside your human limitations. And that same grace was not given only so you could have a relationship with God—it was given so you could reflect His heart in your relationships with people. Unity does not grow where pride dominates. Unity grows where grace flows.
When you understand that you were loved before time, chosen before performance, and forgiven before failure, something shifts inside you. You no longer need to compete. You no longer need to defend your image. You no longer need to win every argument. Secure people can pursue unity because their identity is settled.
This is where exchange life theology becomes practical. It is no longer “I must hold relationships together through my effort.” Instead, it becomes “Christ in me is expressing His patience, His humility, and His kindness through me.” The unity you could never manufacture in your own strength becomes the natural overflow of His life within you.
Grace creates safety, and safety allows people to be honest. When people feel safe, they can admit mistakes. When they can admit mistakes, relationships grow deeper. Unity is not the absence of differences. It is the presence of love that is stronger than those differences.
Think about your home. Think about your church. Think about your ministry. Imagine what happens when correction comes without condemnation. When disagreements are handled without humiliation. When humility covers weakness rather than exposing it. That is grace at work. That is unity being restored. And this unity is not fragile when it is built on grace. It is strong. It is resilient. It reflects heaven.
You were brought into relationship with God through grace that was settled before time began. Now that same grace empowers you to protect relationships, restore peace quickly, and build environments where love transforms people instead of controlling them. Unity is not achieved by pressure. It is cultivated by grace.
Before time, love flowed in perfect harmony within the Godhead. Today, that same love lives in you. And when you allow grace to lead instead of ego, unity becomes a testimony that heaven is already at work on earth. Where in your life is God inviting you to choose grace over being right so that unity can grow?
Prayer
Father, thank You that unity was Your design before time began. Thank You that I am not trying to create love on my own but learning to live from the love You placed within me. Teach me to walk in humility, to respond with grace, and to build relationships that reflect heaven’s harmony. Let Christ in me be the source of unity in my home, church, and every relationship. Amen.
Declaration
Because I was loved before time, I choose grace over pride.
Christ in me builds unity that reflects heaven on earth.
